Today In The Fishroom~11/19/10

These are the juveniles in the grow out tank.  P. Sp "coatzacoalcos", P. fredrichsthali "Honduras", and some of the F0 hogaboomorum.



I have a dozen of these split into two tanks.  I think I am able to pick males from female based on marking and size.  Surprisingly I have four or five males and the rest females.  The larges of which is over three inches.  Really a very pretty fish.





Juvenile F1 P. fredrichsthali "Honduras" at three inches.  This is a male.  They are easily distinguishable at this size.  Lacking right now is that beautiful yellow head.  still at this size, very much the predator assuming the heads up position in the water waiting to grab the food i am teasing them with.



And the parents.  The F0 male at about 12".  



And the pair...male and female so very different.



The female is fat.  Ready for another batch of fry.



Couple shots of the F0 P. managuense from Honduras.  The male is still only around a foot, but he is getting thicker in the body.  the blue sheen across his back is not as prevalent.  It does display when they are breeding...which happens about once a month.

I d really like to see that male freddy. 12" wow! I also like the intense yellow on them, especially on the females.
